Questions and answers concerning the increased influx of asylum seekers
There is a considerable increase in the number of asylum applications submitted in the Netherlands. What does this mean and what measures have been taken.
The total influx of asylum seekers in August was 2,546, only 13% higher than the previous month. Compared to the number of people who entered the Netherlands a year earlier in August 2015 (7,080) the entry level is now just over one third.
With effect from 1 March 2016, the Orientation year for graduates and the Orientation year for highly educated migrants were merged into a single, improved scheme.
In recent months the influx of asylum seekers has been far lower than expected.
