Civic integration examinations in the Netherlands and abroad
As of 15 March 2008 it will become more difficult to pass the Spoken Dutch Test within the context of the Civic Integration Abroad Act [Wet inburgering in het buitenland, Wib] and the Civic Integration Act [Wet inburgering, Wi]. Candidates will be required to answer more questions correctly in order to pass.
Further research by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research [Nederlandse Organisatie voor Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek, TNO] and the Examinations and Certification Research Centre [Research Center voor Examinering en Certificering, RCEC] has shown that the current “pass limit” does not provide sufficient indication of whether the candidate has actually achieved the required language level (A1-min for civic integration abroad, A2 for civic integration in the Netherlands).
The required language levels (A1-min and A2) will remain unchanged.
