If you have lawfully stayed in the Netherlands for five years or more, you qualify for the residence document ‘long-term stay for citizens of the European Union’. This document costs € 30. When your current residence document (for 5 years) expires, you will be notified automatically by the IND. You can then apply for the residence document ‘long-term stay for citizens of the European Union’.

If you do not yet have a residence document, but have been staying lawfully in the Netherlands for five years, and can demonstrate such (for example by means of a proof of registration with the municipal base administration) you can also apply for the residence document  ‘long-term stay for citizens of the European Union’ with the IND.
